Priorities & Goals

  • Priorities

The Office of Student Learning & Family Engagement works closely with schools, students, families, and the community, to promote shared responsibility and engagement and to foster mutual learning and development.  Working together in meaningful and culturally affirming ways will help us attend to student and school needs in the following areas:

  • Attendance Our attendance team works closely with all school communities to develop systems and build the capacity for schools to work with students and their families in order to increase regular attendance.
  • Engagement Our engagement team works with identified schools in order to improve school connectedness for historically underserved youth that have been struggling with their relationship to school.
  • Active Partnership Our office establishes authentic and trusting partnerships with families to ensure they have the tools and opportunities to be active and effective partners in their children's school experience.
  • Capacity Building Our office works closely with district, school, and teacher leadership to create effective family-school partnerships that support learning opportunities in the classroom, community, and at home.
